Richard Stephen “Dickie” Cates, 62, of Prosperity, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Born on December 15, 1962, in Charleston, he was a son of the late James Cates and Mary Ellen Stancil Whitetree. Dickie was a registered nurse and was working as a hospice nurse.

He is survived by a son, Richard Stephen (Rebecca) Cates II of Pomaria; daughters, Katherine Cates (Tripp) Stanton of Atlanta, GA and Madison Leigh (David) Gardiner of Prosperity; a brother, David Cates of OH and three grandchildren.
