Rita Nolan

Rita T. Cleary Nolan, 89, of Newberry, widow of Ronald Nolan, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at White Oak Manor.

Mrs. Rita was born on March 1, 1933 to the late William and Elizabeth Schmidt Cleary.  She loved her family dearly, and whether it be shopping, going out to lunch, or just spending time with them, she enjoyed every minute. Mrs. Rita also devoted much of her time to the Special Olympics organization, a program that meant a great deal to her on account of her special son, Ronald.

She is survived by her son, James P. (Leslie) Nolan, of Weeki Wacheee, FL, and her daughter, Elizabeth A. (Brian) Gordon, of Silverstreet; her grandchildren, Riley, Analisa, and Nadia Nolan, Andrew Gordon, and Megan Achelpohl, and her great-grandchild, Bellamy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Ronald Nolan, her brothers, William, Phillip, and Lawrence Cleary, and her sisters, Sis, Mary, and Kay.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
