Ryan Jones

Robert Ryan Jones, 72, of Newberry, died April 14, 2010, at White Oak Manor.

Born on December 6, 1937, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Oscar Virgil and Jannie Belle Cook Jones. Mr. Jones was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Lewis United Methodist Church. He was employed by radio stations WKDK and WKMG for many years. He loved fishing, singing, and playing his guitar. He especially loved his dog, Patch.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Kleckley Jones; a son, Glenn Jones of Clinton; daughters, Elizabeth Smith and her husband Joey of Lugoff and Lisa Fowler and her husband Darell of Houston, TX; 5 grandchildren, Aisa Trevino, Adam Smith, Amanda Trevino, Haden Fowler, and Regan Fowler; and a devoted friend, David Harmon. He was predeceased by brothers, Virgil Jones and Bruce Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Wako Cotney and Rev. Randall Derrick. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Nelson, Keith Nelson, Mark Cotney, Ron Cotney, Bobby Kunkle, and Marion Reuter.

Honorary pallbeares will be the staff of Hospice Care of Tri-County, the Millie Hamby Sunday School Class, and the former members of the band Cimmerons.

The family would like to ask for those attending the funeral service to please dress casual.
