Shelvie Jean Dominick Shealy, 85, of Prosperity, widow of Charles Franklin Shealy, passed away July 30, 2023 at her residence.

Born in Clinton, SC on July 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Lula Mae Mills Dominick. Mrs. Shealy was employed with Prosperity Manufacturing, Old School Manufacturing and later worked at The Smoke House in the Stoney Hill community. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the G.A.L.S. Group and the Cancer Survivor’s Group at St. Luke's.

She enjoyed the outdoors and especially working in her garden.   She was a wonderful cook who loved preparing Sunday dinners for her family and was a faithful Christian woman who loved her family and her Lord.

She is survived by daughters, Betty (Tim) Connelly of Prosperity and Linda (Rodger) Lawrimore of Hemingway; a son, Bruce (Lisa) Shealy of Prosperity; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Lathrop, of Covington, GA, Steffen (Shea) Shealy, Christopher (Laurie) Connelly, Keith (Angie) Shealy, and Nicole (George) Simmons, all of Prosperity; great-grandchildren, Brooke Stoudemire, Claire Lathrop, Quinn Lathrop, Kate Lathrop, Nikolas Lathrop, Hannah Shealy, Bryson Shealy, McKinley Shealy, James Connelly, Catelyn Connelly; step-great-grandchildren, Ava Simmons and Micah Simmons. She was predeceased by a brother and his wife of Newberry, Jacob James Dominick and Eula Mae Wicker Dominick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Lathrop, Steffen Shealy, Christopher Connelly, Keith Shealy, George Simmons, and Kenneth Shealy.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult II Sunday School class and the G.A.L.S.

The family would like to extend special thanks for the loving care and assistance of Ms. Carrie Ellis and Ms. Mary Mathis of Newberry and to the MSA Hospice team, especially Ms. Brenda Roberts, Ms. Temeka Simmons and Ms. Nika Dowd.
