Edward Theodore “Ted” Wallace, 71, of Newberry, died on August 14, 2026 at his home.
Born on April 6, 1955 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Edward Theodore Wallace, Sr. and Joann Baldwin Wallace. Growing up, Ted participated in both the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed earning merit badges and going to Camp Old Indian. He liked to deer hunt and loved spending the summers with his grandparents in Alabama. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and was a life-long member of Bush River Baptist Church. He participated in RA's in his youth, and was a member of the choir in later years.
Ted worked with W.E. Baker and Son, Kaywood Shutter Plant, Quality Woodworks, Palmetto Pallet, and retired from Renfro after 21 years. During retirement, Ted owned and operated, Ted's Used Small Engines. He enjoyed the beach, going to the Newberry Opera House, and spending time talking with friends. Ted was kind hearted, and enjoyed taking care of the birds and feral cats.
He is survived by a son, Jonathan Livingston Wallace, a daughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Wallace Bell; a brother, Charlie Jefferson Wallace; two grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Alice Wallace.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Bush River Baptist Church, by the Rev. Jeff Payne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, 8936 Bush River Road, Newberry,SC 29108 or to Percy's Angelic Cat Rescue, PO Box 331 Little Mountain, SC 29075.
