Thomas Nichols, Sr.

Thomas Matthew Nichols, Sr., 83, of Prosperity, died Sunday, February 7, 2021, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 25, 1937, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Benjamin Cole and Nina Mae Waters Nichols. He had served in the S.C. National Guard and retired after 34 ½ years as a First Sergeant with the S.C. Highway Patrol. Mr. Nichols was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Boozer Nichols; a son, Thomas Matthew (Tina) Nichols, Jr. of Prosperity; a daughter, Elizabeth (Jonny) Thompson of Lexington and two granddaughters, Katie Thompson and Emmie Thompson. He was predeceased by brothers, Raeford Nichols and Bernard Nichols.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
