Tia Parker

Tia Denise Martin Parker, 67, of Newberry, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025 at MUSC Columbia.

Tia was born on October 8, 1957 to Alzada Sluss and the late Donald Martin. She was a devout Christian woman, letting her love for the Lord and her faith in Him guide her life. Tia's love for God was reflected in her love for her family, as she counted them among her greatest blessings. Tia was a graduate of Piedmont Technical College, where she obtained a degree in Criminal Justice. She was also an artist, a life-long passion and appreciation that she held for many years, along with crocheting. Tia was a dedicated member of Newberry Church of God, where she was able to worship and learn more about Christ.

In addition to her mother, Tia is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Paul Parker; daughters, April Tia Parker of Columbia and Christina Danielle Parker of Irmo; grandchildren, Ashton Denise Gray, Lee-Anne Faye Gray, Audrey Danielle McDuffie, Adam James McDuffie, Emma Blair McDuffie, and Ethan Henry Singleton; and great-grandchildren, Connor Morgan, Raelynn Gray, Parker Gray, and Jaxson Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Martin, and sister, Bonnie Blair Meisenheimer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Newberry Church of God by the Reverend Jeff Timmerman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.
