Tommy Kunkle

William Thomas “Tommy” Kunkle, 71, of Prosperity, died September 16, 2018 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Newberry on July 7, 1947, he was a son of the late James Ellis and Eleanor Folk Kunkle. He was a United States Army veteran and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He retired from Norfolk Southern with over 37 years of service. Tommy loved Clemson Football, fishing , and spending time outdoors. He especially loved his canine sidekick “Sassy” and his grand dog “Boogie.”

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Black Kunkle; his daughter, Donna Elizabeth Kunkle of Prosperity; a sister, Jannie Hall of Batesburg; and a brother, Jim Kunkle of Pomaria. He was predeceased by a sister, Joann Willard.

Crypt side funeral services will be conducted at 3:00PM Wednesday in Newberry Memorials Gardens by the Rev. Pamela Turfa. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Active pall bearers will be Chris Kunkle, Rick Martin, Mike Willard, Mark Chrisley, Charlie Zoble, and Jonathan Alewine.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Newberry Infusion Center for their care.
