Troy Ray Adams passed into eternal rest with our Heavenly Father on Monday, November 9, 2009 .  He was born on October 10, 1932 , in Prosperity, South Carolina . He was the son of the late Allen Wharton and Gladys Stockman Adams.

Mr. Adams was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he was an active member as long as his health permitted.  He was a retired member of the Fairview Fire Department. He was one of the founding members instrumental in establishing the Fairview Fire Department for the community.  He was also a member of Little Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 281.

He served in the Army from May 1953 – April 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a former truck driver and heavy equipment operator as a civilian employee at Fort Jackson .

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.  He and his wife loved our Lord and each other.  They set a loving example of a Christian home and a loving family for their daughters.  He was always ready to help anyone in need.

He will be dearly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Dovie Wise Adams, his three daughters, Judy (Allen) Litz, Ruth (Rudy) Boozer and Joyce ( Leon ) Hutto.  He is also survived by five grandchildren: Corey J. Bishop, Lori A. Smith, Nicole L. Boozer, L. Leon Hutto, III, and Joshua B. Hutto and fiancé Kristina Lewis; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ettie Killian, Betty (Harold) Seibert, Shirby (Loyd) Chapman and Reba (Douglas) Warren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Levi B. Bishop.

Funeral service will be held at Macedonia Lutheran Church in Prosperity on Thursday, November 12, 2009 , at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm .  Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Lutheran Church Family Life Center , 49 Macedonia Church Road , Prosperity , South Carolina , 29127 or to the Fairview Fire Department, 149 Seibert Road , Prosperity , South Carolina 29127 .

Pallbearers are Levi B. Bishop (In Memoriam) , Corey Bishop, Lori Smith, Nicole Boozer, Leon Hutto, III, Joshua Hutto, Daniel Seibert, Louie Chapman, Douglas Warren, Jr., Larry Killian and Brian Shaeffer.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Fairview Fire Department and the staff of White Oak Manor – Newberry, Unit 3.
