Ulysses "John" Mercier

Ulysses Calvin “John” Mercier, 90, of Newberry, widower of Lori Mercier, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his residence.

Born on May 28, 1919 in St. Ann, IL, he was a son of the late Clifford and Isabel Dubuque Mercier. He was retired from L.T.V. Steel Mill of East Chicago, Indiana, a World War II Navy Air Corp veteran and a member of College Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are his sisters, Eudolia Smith of Sierra Vista, AZ and Gloria "Mickie" Huskey of Kodak, TN and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Roger Mercier and a brother, Richard Mercier.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Orlando McCauley.
