Vernon Robert Hunter

Vernon Robert “Possum” Hunter, 79, of West Columbia, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on December 11, 1934, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Dudley and Nancy Hunter. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard.

Mr. Hunter is survived by sons, Billy Robert (Debra) Hunter of Newberry, Vernon Lewis Hunter of Prosperity and Randall Lee Hunter of Gaston; a daughter, Jennifer Gail Seawright; a brother, John D. Hunter of Prosperity; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Evans and a brother, Sydney Hunter.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home Chapel by the Rev. Fred Lazzaro.
