Walter Austin

Walter Albert Austin, 81, of Prosperity, died Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 8, 1938 in East Greenwich, RI, he was the son of the late William and Kathleen Austin Desseau. Mr. Austin was an Air Force veteran and member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Chapin.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Claire Loignon Austin; sons, Michael Austin, Jeffrey Austin and Garret Austin; a daughter, Lynn (Geoff) Heanue; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brandon Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by Deacon Jerry Loignon. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veteran Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
