Warren Givens, Sr.

Warren Thomas Givens, Sr. 90, formerly of Sumter, died August 14, 2010.

Born in Savannah on May 21, 1920, he was a son of the late Thomas Boyd and Mildred Warren Givens. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a retired Insurance Agent. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Sumter.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Merchant Givens; sons, Warren Thomas Givens, Jr. and his wife, Teresa of Raleigh, and David Givens and his wife, Donna of Lexington; a sister, Mary Newton and her husband, Sydney of Columbia; grandchildren, Helen, Matthew, Brannan, and Charles Givens. He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Givens and his step-mother, Rosalie Redd Givens.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday, August 16, 2010 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wes Poole. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:45 am Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to St. James Lutheran Church, 1137 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
