William Craven

William Dowling Craven, 80, of Newberry, widower of Miriam Jollay Craven, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 11, 1929, in Kinards, he was a son of the late John Ellis Craven, Sr. and Helen Moates Craven. Mr. Craven was retired from the Air Force and later worked for Whitten Center and Bailey Memorial Hospital. He was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are his daughters, Jennie Ann Craven of Lexington and Karen Craven of Newberry; a sister, Ruth Craven King of Clinton; brothers, Derrill Craven of Blanchard, OK and Jerry Ned Craven of Greenville. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Craven and John Ellis Craven, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010, at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery in Dillard, GA. Memorials may be made to Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, 1211 Calhoun Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
