Wilma Kinard

d. June 6, 2010

Mrs. Wilma Richardson Kinard, 80, was born on April 8, 1930, in the Jollystreet section of Newberry County. She has resided in Newberry County all of her life spending the last 60 years in her current home in the St. Philip’s Community. She passed into life eternal on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at her home.

Wilma is survived by her grandson, Berley L. Rister III and Joseph Leland Rister and a son-in-law, Berley L. Rister, Jr. as well as many devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland J. Kinard; a son, Leland J. Kinard, Jr.; and a daughter, Cindy K. Rister and a brother, George Harold Richardson. Mrs. Kinard was the daughter of the late Lillian Livingston and George Euston Richardson.

Mrs. Wilma retired from the Kayser-Roth Plant in 1997. She was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church and attended faithfully until health kept her at home. She enjoyed visiting the Waffle House and her friends there. She loved the visits from her extended family and enjoyed many hours of fellowship around the “Big Table” where she served many guests over the years. Mrs. Wilma continued to host meals with the help of nieces and nephews during her later years because that fellowship along with the love from her extended family made her life worth living along with her faith in Jesus Christ. A very special “Thank You” goes to Anna Jolly, Nurse Bonnie and Tri-County Hospce for the love and care that they provided during her final months. This care came from the heart and allowed her to remain in her home that she loved. The family would like to say “Thank You” to everyone that visited and brightened her final days because she loved to have company.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. The family is at the home of  Dean Lominick in Pomaria and also at her residence in Newberry. She may be viewed at the church one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Improvement Fund, 2461 St. Philip’s Church Road, Newberry, SC 92108.
