Arthur Woodrow Lathrop, 99, of Newberry, widower of Nancy Cook Lathrop, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Springfield Place.
Born on October 1, 1926, in Newberry, he was a son of the late William Pinkney and Maggie Boozer Lathrop. Woodrow grew up in the Hartford Community.
He was a World War II Navy Seaman First Class veteran who served from October 1944 – April 1946. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Camp Medal.
Woodrow was a lifetime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where during his life he had served on all committees of the church.
In his early years he milked cows for J.F. Hawkins and then worked for Edisto Dairy where he delivered milk. Edisto later became Coburg Dairy where he progressed to the southeastern regional manager.
Woodrow is survived by daughters, Donna Richardson of Newberry, Alice Lathrop of Lexington, and Vicki (Jack) Hamm of Newberry; grandchildren, Bethany (Mitch) Fulmer, Blake (Aubrey) Hamm, Kendall (Phillip) Trotter and C.J. Lathrop; great-grandchildren, Andrew (E.K.) Fulmer, Landon Hamm, Weston Hamm, Bowen Hamm, Adleigh Hamm, Brooks Hamm and Nancy Faye Trotter.
He was the last surviving sibling and was predeceased by his brothers, William Lathrop, Aiken Lathrop, Ray Lathrop and Grady Lathrop. He was also predeceased by a son, Chuck Lathrop.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts and Rev. Laura Parrish. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Methodist Memorial Cemetery Association, c/o Donna Richardson, 8156 SC Highway 395, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Tom Ferrington, Ray Hughes, Andrew Fulmer, Blake Hamm, Kendall Trotter and Phillip Trotter.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
