Edward Graham Mills, 70, of Newberry, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on July 19, 1945, in Columbia, he was a son of the late E. Patrick and Rozelle Graham Mills. He was the former owner and operator of Mills Service Center and Mills Towing and Car Unlocking Service and was currently employed with Prosperity Drug Company. He served in the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Mills was a lifelong member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church where he currently was a member of the Property Committee, the Lutheran Men in Mission and the Visitation Team. He was a former member of the church Congregational Council. He was a member of the Newberry Exchange Club. Mr. Mills was a life member of the Amity Lodge and was a retired volunteer with the City of Newberry Fire Department. He was a member of the S.C. Barbecue Association where he was certified Master Barbecue Judge. His great joy was having the opportunity to love his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bishop Mills; sons, Douglas Edward (Christy) Mills of Little Mountain and Michael B. (Maggie) Mills of Newberry; grandchildren, Emily, Ryan, Katie and Kathleen Mills; brother, Charles C. Mills of Lake Murray; mother-in-law, Kathleen B. (Cotton) Riley of Newberry; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Debbie) Bishop of Greenwood; nephews, Stanley (Paula) Mills of Newberry and Jay (Stephanie) Bishop of Florence and special cat, Patches.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 27, 2015, at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Stephen Mims. The family receive friends at the home and also immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow the visitation at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Summer Memorial Lutheran Church General Fund, 1609 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Bishop, Patrick Mills, William Satterwhite, Bob Dawkins, Philip Sligh, Bert Neel, Melvin Pucket and Hoke Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of John's Flock Supper Club and the Lutheran Men in Mission, staff of Prosperity Drug Company, and Mamie Burnside, James Neel, Shirley Aughtry, Julia Counts, Rosemary Sanders and David Lominick.
