Sandra, George and Lou,
Bobbie Alan put up a long and courageous fight. I will always be happy to have know him and to have had him as a member of the family.
I can never forget the carefree days Van Anderson, Bobby Livingston, Joey Pack and I enjoyed there on your farm. The delights with your family featuring Ms. Pearl's famous pig-foot stew, helping with the chores, and uncovering the secrets of farm life, will never be forgotten. The remaindermen of that quartet never fail to get to it in our conversation when the few times we still get gather roll around.
Mr. Alan taught me how to manage a small crop of lob-lolly pines. George taught me value of putting your head down and working for scant praise from Mr. Ernest: you were the only one of the dozens who ever worked his “chain-gang” he ever bothered to brag; your work-ethic was legendary, a trait which showed forth in all your family.
Bobbie Alan will never be forgotten and, I, among many will cherish his enduring optimism.
Thank you for the memories from one Oxner family to another.
Jerry

Dear Sandra and George and Lou. I was sad to learn of Bobbie Alan's death today. My memories of visits to Red and Pearl's home during our time as high school classmates will always be remembered fondly. I can't forget that wonderful pigfoot stew and learning the bathroom was outdoors. Alan was a special friend. May God comfort you in your loss. Van Anderson
