Alice Bedenbaugh Shaver, 69, of Newberry, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at MUSC Charleston, SC after an extended illness.

Born January 18, 1946, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late James Roscoe "J.R." and Aletha “Pete” Bedenbaugh. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Prosperity, SC where she was a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and served as treasurer of the Community Service Fund as long as her health permitted. She retired from the Newberry Electric Cooperative after 40 years of service.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Terry C. Shaver; a daughter, Lynn Wicker (Duman); grandchildren, Mary and JC Wicker; nieces, Rachelle Hitchler (Matt) and Nina Griffin (Travis) and their children. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Bedenbaugh

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Michael Price. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, PO Box 188, Prosperity, SC 29127

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, retired employees of the Newberry Co-Op, Florence Senn, Sherry Shealy, Wanda Richardson, Jo Anne Bradstreet and Mark and Missy Hipp.

I had a great opportunity to work with her in my early years at Nby Elec Co-Op, Alice was truly a lady of Christ and a wonderful person to work with.
