Jerry, Anne, and Jeremy (and Kay):
We are so sad about Harriet and wish we had not been out of town for her service. Harriet's positive attitude, her smile, and her determination kept all of us "in line" during the Academy years...Very few people touch as many hearts and lives as she did. I treasure the fun times with her and will always be grateful she was in my life. I know that she will be watching over her family and her bff because that is who she is...a great Mom, wife, and friend. Godspeed her on her new pain free journey and hold you all in His hands. I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises: "God is near to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalm 34;18 and 55;22) I hope this message will offer some comfort in your time of sadness.

Jerry and Family,
I first met Harriet following my Granddaughter's death when I sought counseling from Hospice. Her bubbling personality just burst forth and soon I was able to lay all my sorrows and burdens on her shoulders. I did not know many people in Newberry at the time, but I knew that Harriet would always be there for me. I ended up helping in the Administrative area of Hospice and we shared many stories and laughs. I will miss Harriet. God has her now in his loving Arms and we have her in our memories.

I remember about five or so years ago going to the Newberry County Gamecock Club meeting to cover it for the paper.
I already had known Jerry through all of the Newberry High football games but had not met Harriett all of that many times it seems.
Regardless, she came up to me and told me how her brother was the mayor of Lexington and what for me to halfway expect being the brother of Newberry's mayor.
We really had a nice little chat that evening and as best as I can recall, that was the last conversation we had unfortunately.
I extend my sympathy to all of her family and friends during this very difficult time.
